Throughout March, we celebrate Pharmacy Appreciation Month; a chance to reflect on the vital role that pharmacy teams play in delivering quality health care to us all.
OPSEU/SEFPO proudly represents thousands of highly skilled, dedicated pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants who deliver patient care in Ontario’s hospitals.
“Our pharmacy professionals have supported Ontarians throughout the pandemic, helping them to heal, easing their worries and keeping them safe,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “They deserve to be recognized for their hard work and commitment.”
Previously called ‘Pharmacy Awareness Month’, the campaign name was changed for 2021 by the Canadian Pharmacists Association to pay tribute to the contributions of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the 2020-21 flu season, pharmacy teams have delivered a record number of flu shots to Ontarians. They will also be instrumental in delivering to the public the COVID-19 vaccine; the largest public health immunization campaign in Canada’s history.
“Pharmacy teams have done incredible work supporting our communities during this pandemic,” said OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida. “The end of this pandemic is finally in sight, and that wouldn’t be possible without the knowledge that our pharmacy professionals will be there to deliver those shots for us. Thank you to all of these frontline heroes!”
