Patients first! Have your say on Bill 41

Members of the public have until Wednesday, November 23 at 6 p.m. to make submissions to the legislative committee studying Bill 41, the Patients First Act. When passed, the new bill will overhaul much of Ontario’s health care system. Support OPSEU’s call for progressive reform that puts patients first!

On November 14, Lucy Morton, Chair of the OPSEU Health Care Divisional Council, made a presentation to the legislative committee studying the bill. The union’s full submission on the bill is available here.

OPSEU is calling for:

  • elimination of contracting-out in home care to move to a fully public, non-profit system
  • changes to Bill 41 to make Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) accountable to local communities
  • increased democracy in health care through the establishment of democratically-elected LHIN boards of directors and meaningful consultation processes with the public and health care workers

Have your say, either individually or on behalf of your local, by emailing Trevor Day, Clerk of the Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly, at [email protected].
