Dear OPSEU L. 565 Members,

A hurricane wind has settled into a gentle breeze this holiday season.  It is with heavy & full hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Linda MacKinnon.  Linda was a passionate advocate for partnership, collaboration & mobilization at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

As a solid pillar of OPSEU L. 565, Linda was responsible for many of the more innovative initiatives that benefited the membership like the Outreach program during the last two rounds of collective bargaining. She always had time for the membership and built lasting relationships over coffees, chats and road trips across the province as she remained dedicated to reaching out across all our regional worksites.

Outside of her tireless union work, she kept up with her various acts of advocacy and engagement, including United Way & the Toronto Humane Society.  Linda had recently retired but was never very far away.

Having spent so many years building the local capacity, she was a mentor, & an inspiration to the many L. 565 leaders who are proud to carry the mantle.  We do so now more than ever in her honour.

"You are the union of today & future leaders of tomorrow.  How fortunate we are to have our workplace in such capable hands, standing up for fairness, equity & honesty for all.  You are simply the best!" – Linda MacKinnon (aka "LMack")
