Bargaining Bulletin #4:

At the end of May, your Bargaining Team concluded their month-long Part-Time Power Tour where we had the opportunity to hear directly from you while visiting colleges all across the province!

When it comes to organizing, nothing substitutes face-to-face conversations – we are so thankful to have heard your personal stories and workplace concerns, and shared passionate bargaining conversations with so many of you eager to join the fight. Thank you to the many members of the college community for their incredible welcome and support! If we didn’t get the chance to make it to your campus, rest assured that we will make sure to at the next soonest opportunity.

Across campus stops, we met many wonderful part-time and full-time support-staff and faculty who signed onto our Paid Sick Days campaign, as well as the Fund Our Colleges petition. Ontario continues to rank dead last amongst the provinces in government funding for the post-secondary sector. You can send a message to your MPP, the Premier, and the Minister of Colleges at www.FundOurColleges.ca – if thousands of us take action, we can put pressure on the provincial government to fund our colleges now!

Back at the Table: We’re worth #MoreThanMinimum!

Your Bargaining Team was back at the table with the College Employer Council (CEC) this past week, from June 5-7, 2024. During our last set of bargaining days at the end of March, the Bargaining Team tabled a monetary proposal containing the important priorities put forward by part-time members from across the Ontario college system. Two months after presenting this proposal, the Bargaining Team was frustrated to discover that the Employer came back to the table without a response.

Click here to view our monetary proposal presented to the employer in March.

Your Bargaining Team remains committed to continuing these difficult conversations and remaining steadfast in our pursuit of the best monetary deal achievable. We will also continue to press onward with our non-monetary items to improve our working conditions and environment, including job descriptions, access to full-time postings, and interview feedback. An update for members will follow our next bargaining dates, just on the horizon from July 17-19, 2024.

In solidarity,

Your College Support Part-Time Bargaining Team:
