Happy Paramedic Services Week! This week, we shine a light on the essential work of the thousands of dedicated, highly skilled Paramedics represented by OPSEU/SEFPO.
Paramedics and first response teams are there for Ontarians at their most vulnerable moments. In the past few years of the COVID-19 pandemic, when our health care system has been under immense strain and their workloads have increased, paramedics have responded by further increasing their training, safety precautions, and involvement with community health care partners.
Paramedics and the teams supporting them show a high level of skill, empathy and professionalism in the care they provide every day. They are an instrumental part of our health care system.
As with many areas of health care, paramedics have continued to experience burnout and mental stress due to underfunding and staffing shortages. This election season, it’s important to vote for a government that will invest in the ambulance sector and address critical shortages that paramedics and emergency response teams have battled with for years.
These healthcare heroes deserve to work in conditions that keep them safe and provide them with all the resources they need to provide essential care. Stand with them on June 2nd!
