On behalf of OPSEU/SEFPO, we wish to give our deepest condolences to family, friends, and colleagues of the child and youth worker with the Toronto Catholic District School Board who passed away Wednesday after contracting COVID-19.

She was a member of CUPE who worked for many years at St. Francis De Sales School.

Folks who knew her described her as being a passionate and dedicated member of the St. Francis De Sales community. She loved her profession and especially the children she worked with.

While it appears she contracted COVID-19 in the community and not at her school, she was a front-line hero who knew the risks of this deadly virus but continued to do the vital work of helping people who she deeply cared about.

She represented what front-line public sector workers are all about: dedication, professionalism, and passion. She will be missed.

OPSEU/SEFPO stands in solidarity with CUPE members during this difficult time. We know the pain you are feeling. We share the challenges you are facing on the front lines of this pandemic.

We are all in this together.
