The rookie Ford government is barely three months old, but it is already facing a number of lawsuits, including a Charter challenge by OPSEU over the cancellation of the College Task Force.
“The union argues that the task force was part of an arbitrated collective agreement between OPSEU and the College Employer Council, and that the province had no right to cancel it. It argues in its court application that the government “substantially interfered” with the right to bargain collectively, which violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms,” notes the Toronto Star.
“The government has not yet given a rationale for terminating the task force.”
