Global News reported on a rally with members of OPSEU and CUPE and other unions to protest the Ford government’s deep and widespread cuts.

Dozens of protesters rallied at the appearance of Ontario Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy and Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith at a Quinte West Chamber of Commerce event in Trenton on July 4, 2019.

The protesters made themselves seen and heard outside the venue where Bethlenfalvy and Smith spoke to local business leaders about the Ford government’s “accomplishments” during its first year in power.

“We shared our stories about how the devastating cuts that this government has implemented across all sectors has impacted our lives,” said Bonnie Sweet, Quinte Area Council Chair and the President of OPSEU Local 455. “We made sure the government that says they are ‘for the people’ heard the people!”
