OPSEU/SEFPO’s Anti-Racism web page: A space for accountability

2020 has been a year of reckoning in many areas of our society. One of the most important developments is the light that has been shone on systemic racism and the impact it has had on the lives of racialized and Indigenous people.

Following many significant conversations focused on these issues during this past summer, OPSEU/SEFPO is launching our Anti-Racism web page. This web page will be a space dedicated to sharing the union’s educational resources, strategies, campaigns, and news related to its anti-racism initiatives.

“OPSEU/SEFPO has a responsibility to fight against systemic racism in every way that we can,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “We have been listening to our racialized and Indigenous members and staff, and we are committed to doing our part to create an anti-racist environment.”

The Anti-Racism page, an initiative of OPSEU/SEFPO’s Equity Unit, will provide all members and staff with updates on the actions being taken to tackle systemic racism, both within our own union and society at large.

We encourage everyone to be a part of this critical work of dismantling systemic racism once and for all. Feedback and suggestions can be sent directly to [email protected].
