Despite an aggressive misinformation campaign from the employer, all Pharmacy Technicians at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVRHC) voted to join their colleagues in OPSEU/SEFPO Local 346.
Pharmacy Technicians provide pharmacy services to the various departments across the hospital located in downtown Barrie.
President JP Hornick said, “OPSEU/SEFPO already represents Hospital Professionals at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and their gains in the workplace have scared the employer. This time around when Pharmacy Technicians wanted to unionize, the employer went on an aggressive misinformation campaign. But the workers have sent the employer a strong message: united we will not be defeated. It’s an incredible reminder that your collective voice has power. Welcome and congratulations to the Pharmacy Technicians in Local 346!”
“We are thrilled to welcome our newest members at Royal Victoria Hospital. Registered Pharmacy Technicians made a decision to have their voices heard in the workplace at a critical time. Our hospitals were in crisis prior to the pandemic and it takes a unified voice for health professionals to advocate for high quality healthcare and better working conditions. Joining now, when health professionals in OPSEU/SEFPO are seeing the largest improvements to working conditions in two decades, was an important decision for these workers and we are thrilled to welcome them to OPSEU/SEFPO,” said Region 3 Vice President and Chair of the Hospitals Professional Division, Sara Labelle.
The work Hospital Professionals do is incredibly important, and OPSEU/SEFPO, is proud to stand with them.
