Seeking transparency and a voice in the workplace, health care professionals at the North Wellington Health Care Corporation voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining OPSEU/SEFPO. They work out of two hospital sites located in Palmerston & Mount Forest, serving Waterloo, Wellington and surrounding communities.
“Thank you for putting your trust in each other and in our union. It was an act of courage that will make your working lives better and improve the quality of care that you’re able to provide,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick. “As members of OPSEU/SEFPO, these workers have joined a union that will organize, fight, and win better working conditions and to protect our public health care system.”
These Medical Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy and Allied Health professionals join OPSEU/SEFPO’s largest health care cluster – the Hospital Professionals Division (HPD) – representing more than 25,000 members in hospitals across Ontario.
“By joining OPSEU/SEFPO and the Hospital Professionals Division, these professionals are now part of a solid, winning team and they will get the support they deserve,” said Region 3 Vice President and Chair of the Hospitals Professional Division, Sara Labelle. “They will have a much stronger voice moving forward with their employer, and together, hospital professionals will continue to fight for quality public healthcare.”
