OPSEU/SEFPO congratulates Elizabeth Ha on her most recent achievement as recipient of this year’s Charles E. Brooks Community Service Award. She will be honoured at the upcoming 2021 Virtual Labour Appreciation Night on November 24 starting at 6pm.
Elizabeth is long-time OPSEU/SEFPO activist having worked tirelessly on behalf of workers for many years. She is the current First Vice-President of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 154, Chair of OPSEU/SEFPO’s Provincial Human Rights Committee (PHRC), and Vice-Chair for People of Asian Descent on OPSEU/SEFPO’s Coalition of Racialized Workers (CoRW). Elizabeth was also recently re-elected as Vice-President of the Ontario Federation of Labour’s (OFL) Workers of Colour Committee.
She is a staunch advocate for equal rights and works hard to ensure that the voices of racialized workers are not forgotten. She has also done extensive work in championing the rights of migrant workers within her region having working closely with Justicia for Migrant Workers. Every year, she collects and delivers food, clothing and other supplies to workers in need.
Elizabeth is a proud mother of two who works as a Property Valuation Analyst with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation of Ontario (MPAC).
This event will be hosted by the United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex County in partnership with the Windsor & District Labour Council (WDLC) which celebrates union activists who have made significant contributions to the labour movement and their communities.
