On Thursday, December 1, OPSEU/SEFPO, the National Union for Public and General Employees (NUPGE), and BloodWatch held a joint protest outside Canadian Blood Services (CBS) headquarters in Ottawa.

The protest was held to call on the CBS Board to cancel an undisclosed 15-year deal with private pharmaceutical manufacturer, Grifols, which is believed to violate the Voluntary Blood Donations Act.

CTV Ottawa covered the protest in the ‘News at Six’ segment (clip starts at 8:35).

OPSEU/SEFPO, NUPGE, and BloodWatch will be holding a news conference on Wednesday, December 7 at Queen’s Park to raise the issue with Premier Ford and Health Minister Jones.
