OPSEU/SEFPO stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian community across Ontario and condemns the recent military invasion in their homeland. Today, we join the millions of voices across this nation that call for peace and justice around the world.
As a part of a global union movement, we continue to stand firm in our commitment to protect and preserve human rights. We’re deeply troubled and concerned for the safety and well-being of all the innocent lives that are affected by war.
We must stand for dignity and freedom everywhere if we’re to create a world free of war, violence, destruction and hate. History has taught us that war has and will continue to be a threat to our collective freedom and our efforts to build everlasting peace globally. There are no winners. When nations engage in war, we let down a generation of children who bear the brunt of those repercussions for generations to come.
We must actively work towards upholding and protecting peace, liberty and justice if we are to survive and thrive as citizens of the world.
In solidarity,
Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU/SEFPO President
Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida, OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer
