After three days of purposeful bargaining, OPSEU/SEFPO and its Administrative Staff Union (ASU) have negotiated a tentative contract.

OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas congratulates both bargaining teams on their success, and thanks them for their dedication to reaching a deal.

“Both teams have shown remarkable focus and flexibility during talks,” said Thomas. “Bargaining in the current climate hasn’t been easy for anyone, but this deal proves that we can accomplish great things, when we work together.”

ASU represents OPSEU/SEFPO supervisors and administrative assistants. OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida says more details will be released once the deal is ratified by both parties, but he is confident that they’ll be pleased.

“This is a fair deal for our ASU staff,” said Almeida. “It provides them with solid contract language in one of the most challenging times on modern history, and it sets our union, and our staff, up for many more years of collaboration and success – it’s a win-win.”

“The results of this round of bargaining give us hope,” said Thomas. “It shows that when the parties remain focused and professional, even through the toughest rounds, we can achieve a successful resolution. Bravo and congratulations to the teams!”
