Tuesday, October 19, 2021 – 9:00AM – 4:00PM
Format: Virtual Conference (Zoom)
The theme for this year’s conference “Beyond the Surface” will build on the success of the 2019 OPSEU/SEFPO Women’s Conference “I AM” which looked into the many aspects of being a woman.
“Beyond the Surface” aims to bring a deeper understanding of the invisible roots or what you don’t see, and will continue to examine the many identities that women have.
- Women’s resilience
- Women’s strength
- Women’s experience
- Women’s strategies
From the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, women have been disproportionately impacted on multiple levels. Women continue to shoulder heavy responsibilities in the workplace as frontline workers and at home as spouses, mothers, caregivers, companions, and much more.
Women from Indigenous, Black, and other racialized communities including those from low-income backgrounds, the LGBTQ community, and persons with disabilities have all been disproportionately impacted.
This conference will celebrate women, applaud their contributions to society, and create awareness on the importance of self-care especially during trying times as to one we’re currently facing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today’s society continues to see a climate of intolerance with a resurgence of hate and racism. It is important for women, especially those who sit in positions of privilege, to create spaces for those whose voices are missing or silenced at the table.
Registration: Applications to attend the 2021 Conference will be made available in August.
