Toronto – OPSEU members from communities across the province will be pouring into downtown Toronto today to add their strength and numbers to the Ontario Health Coalition rally in support of quality public health care.
“Health care funding and access are significant issues for OPSEU,” said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas, who will be speaking at the rally. “We represent more than 50,000 workers who provide quality health care. And we represent 155,000 workers who all depend on quality health care.
“We’re proud to stand strong with the Ontario Health Coalition to protect our public health care system from cuts, freezes, and privatizations.”
The health coalition’s rally at Queen’s Park, which is expected to draw thousands, will start at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
OPSEU leaders and members will gather for a pre-rally at 11:45 a.m. at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at 585 University Ave.
