OPSEU in solidarity with striking Port Arthur workers

On August 8, OPSEU members joined workers on the picket lines in front of the Port Arthur Health Centre in Thunder Bay. Some 65 members of Unifor Local 229, who work as secretaries, medical aides and medical records staff, have been on strike since April 9.

Jerry Dias, president of Unifor, later tweeted his appreciation: “Thanks to OPSEU members coming out to support striking Unifor members at Port Arthur Health Centre in Thunder Bay. The rich doctors running the centre need to get back to the table and negotiate a fair deal for the workers.”

In a similar situation are members of OPSEU Local 276 working at Owen Sound Family Health Organization. They have been on strike since May 22.
