OPSEU’s annual convention is just around the corner.
If you’ve been elected to attend the OPSEU Convention either as a delegate, alternate, or observer, please remember that as customary our Sector 16 – Municipal Property Assessment Division (MPAC) Convention Caucus will be taking place on Friday, April 20, at 12 noon. The meeting room will be announced closer to the date. Stay tuned!
Pre-Bargaining Conference: June 1, 2
As a reminder, your collective agreement expires on Dec. 31, 2018.
To get a jump on bargaining for our next contract, we’ll be holding a Sector 16 Pre-Bargaining Conference.
- Location: Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown, 475 Yonge St., Toronto, ON, M4Y 1X7, (Close to the Toronto OPSEU Regional Office on Wellesley St.)
- Date: Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2
At commencement of the conference, there will be a debriefing as it pertains to the last round of bargaining. The intention is to reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what can be done to improve the next round of bargaining for our members.
As part of the debriefing, the delegates will be given an opportunity to provide their feedback on the last round of bargaining and make recommendations.
On the second day of the conference, delegates will elect the bargaining team, which is made up of five members and three alternates.
In keeping with the negotiation procedures, delegates will also examine in depth a number of broadly based issues that are relevant to the forthcoming round of negotiations, develop themes for consideration at local demand-set meetings, and generally, give guidance and a sense of direction to the delegates.
More information about the Pre-Bargaining Conference, along with information about how your local will choose delegates, will be mailed out shortly. For now we recommend that you commence the process of talking to your constituency and start scheduling your local meetings in order to elect those who will be attending the Pre-Bargaining Conference.
Design a new Sector 16 logo concept, win a gift card!
Sector 16 needs a new logo. Who better to design it than a Sector 16 member?
Whether it’s a drawing, a simple sketch, or a fully formed design, send us your idea by Friday, May 4, at 5 pm EST and you could find yourself in the running for prestige, glory, and a $100 gift card!
Entries should be emailed to David Lynch at [email protected].
All the entries received by the deadline will be presented to the participants of the Sector 16 Pre-Bargaining Conference on June 1 and 2. Delegates will vote on their favourite logo, and the designer of the winning logo will get a $100 gift card to the store, restaurant, or service of their choice.
Just remember: the logo should include “16”, or “Sector 16”, or “Sector 16 – Property Assessment/MPAC”, or “Sector 16 – MPAC/Property Assessment”.
Note: Once the winning logo has been chosen and the prize has been awarded, OPSEU’s communications department will polish it into a format that can be used on a variety of formats, including the web, print, and larger flags and banners.
