OPSEU’s annual Convention will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23, 2020. Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of OPSEU, will issue the official call in January 2020.

Convention is the union’s highest-ranking authority, where delegates debate and vote on policy and constitutional motions. Awards, presentations and guest speakers are also part of this three-day event.

“OPSEU’s Got Talent,” the union’s annual member talent show, will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

The annual Comedy Night starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 22. Both events take place in the John Bassett Theatre within the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The deadline to submit local credentials is April 3, 2020. All delegates, alternates and observers who require time off must submit a request for a letter to be issued to your employer. Time off for delegates is paid for by OPSEU Head Office. Time off for alternates and observers is paid using Local monies. Locals must be up to date on the Trustee Audit Reports (TAR’s) and send in the “Locals that Wish to Use Rebates for Time Off” form to process the reimbursement of wages for alternates and observers.

The deadline to submit resolutions and constitutional amendments is also April 3, 2020.
