A message from your Central/Unified and Corrections Teams
Last week, the President of OPSEU, Warren (Smokey) Thomas, announced that the union and the employer had agreed to return to the bargaining table. Today, the two sides reconvened to continue the bargaining process that the employer broke off early in the year.
With the resumption of negotiations comes a news blackout. This is to ensure that the bargaining is not derailed by outside interference. Stay tuned to Table Talk for official word on the outcome of the negotiations.
While the result of the talks remains to be seen, both the Central/Unified and the Corrections bargaining teams have expressed their sincere gratitude for the solid support they have received from the membership – and for members’ efforts to bring the employer back to the table.
Thomas was also eager to express his appreciation. “I want to thank the bargaining teams for their efforts and determination to succeed, as well as our members, who’ve been patient and courageous in the face of possible job action.
“As we embark on the tough job of negotiating a collective agreement, we renew our pledge to do everything possible to arrive at a fair deal for the women and men who work hard to provide the excellent public services Ontarians need and deserve.”
In solidarity,
Your Central/Unified and Corrections Bargaining Teams
