The OPSEU collective agreement in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) expires on December 31, 2017. In preparation for bargaining, all OPSEU members in the OPS are invited to complete one of two 2017 demand-set surveys online. The survey will be live from February 23 to March 13, 2017.
As a result of recent amendments to the Crown Employees Collective Bargaining Act (CECBA), OPSEU bargaining teams will negotiate two separate, stand-alone collective agreements in this round – one for the Unified bargaining unit and one for the Correctional bargaining unit. Unified members who are transferring to the Correctional bargaining unit should complete the Corrections survey.
The surveys are easy to fill out and will provide each bargaining team with valuable information about members’ priorities. The surveys are being conducted and tabulated by Stratcom, an independent, external third party, to ensure confidentiality. OPSEU will only receive the aggregate results – individual results will not be reported. Stratcom’s report will identify members’ top 10 priorities across the province for each bargaining unit, so it is vital that as many members as possible complete the survey. The results will be sent to local presidents by March 20 to assist locals with their demand-set meetings.
To complete the survey, you will be asked to type in your WIN number to verify that you are a member of the appropriate OPS bargaining unit and to ensure there are no duplicate responses. You will also be asked to provide your local number, classification, ministry and workplace address. This information is helpful for analysis of the provincial results.
Members who do not have access to a computer may visit their membership centres, regional offices or public libraries. Please do not use the employer’s computer to complete the survey. If you have any questions about the survey, please email Sathiya Krisnanandan at [email protected] or call her at 1-800-268-7376 ext. 8740.
