Today begins Passover, and OPSEU would like to say chag kasher v’same’ach to all our Jewish members and friends.

Passover is a celebration of spring and rebirth, the journey from slavery to freedom, and of taking responsibility for yourself, the community, and the world. What a great message for every day, but especially now as humanity faces one of the biggest modern-day challenges it has ever seen with COVID-19.

The Torah states that Jews are to observe Passover for seven days, beginning on the 15th of the Jewish month Nisan (usually in April). We implore everyone to take this time to reflect.

During this time of tremendous anxiety in Canada and around the globe, Passover is reminding people from all backgrounds and faiths that our global community must come together and work in harmony and peace to overcome this incredible challenge.
