Nurses Week May 10-16, 2021

OPSEU/SEFPO’s RPN Occupational Division invites you to participate in our Nurses Week 2021 online events all week long.

Support our nurses – they need more staffing, safety and support.

None of us could have ever imagined the painful struggles, risks, and sacrifices RPNs have had to face, ones that have only been exacerbated by this pandemic. We recognize that occupational anxiety and caregiver compassion fatigue will be the next global pandemic.

Visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/OPSEURPN/ in order to join the daily discussions and follow our page to be able to enter in for your chance to win a $100 pre-paid credit card. Five winners will be announced on Saturday May 15th.

Please email Nadia Shahabun at [email protected], OPSEU/SEFPO Support Staff, with your full name, local, mailing address, and email in order to qualify for the draws.

As part of the commemorations we invite you to two special presentations being offered during the week as well.

Presentation: Tuesday, May 11th

On Tuesday, May 11th from 1-2pm please use the link below to join a presentation by Dr. John Bradford, Founder Forensic Psychiatry, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, who will be speaking about Vicarious Trauma and PTSD: an occupational risk for nurses and other mental health professionals.

Please note that if you miss any of these sessions we will work on posting a recording on our Facebook page for your convenience.

Lastly, we will be releasing our research paper where we make a number of recommendations that the government should consider when establishing legislation and policies that affect RPNs across this province.

We encourage you to read and share it.

We at OPSEU/SEFPO recognize and value the immeasurable efforts you all have made over the past year. Even after nurses week is over, we will continue to stand strong with you in the trenches, fighting to protect your bargaining rights, health and safety, and workplace issues.

Looking forward to commemorating nurses week with you and thank you again for all that you have given during these trying times.
