In good times and bad, the key to strong and healthy communities is always the same: good public services provided by committed and passionate public service workers.

OPSEU/SEFPO is always proud to recognize and thank Canada’s public service workers.  And as we begin to emerge from the pandemic, we’re especially proud to mark this year’s National Public Service Week, which is happening June 13-19.

The past year-and-a-half have been incredibly difficult, but public service workers have courageously risen to the challenge.  Most of OPSEU/SEFPO’s 180,000 members have continued working since the beginning of the pandemic, many of them on the front lines. Why have so many been so willing to risk their own health and safety? Because they know the public is counting on them.

Whatever the job, whatever the sector, public service workers are united around a simple goal: helping as many people as possible, as much as possible. At the end of the day, that’s why public services and public service workers are always the great equalizer: they’re all dedicated to making sure everybody has a fair shot at success, happiness and prosperity.

It’s a calling, providing public services. And to all those who’ve answered the call: thank you. Our province, and our entire country, are stronger, healthier, and more prosperous because of you.

In solidarity,

Warren (Smokey) Thomas
OPSEU/SEFPO President
