Entitled “Ambulance paramedics: saving lives in our communities,” it outlines five key proposals for enhancing paramedic ambulance services:
- Funding paramedic ambulance services to meet the demand that is growing six per cent a year;
- Providing our 911 dispatch system with better tools to prioritize calls and deliver the right care, at the right time, by the right provider;
- Increasing the number of single paramedic response units, backed up by ambulances, to reduce the response time in emergencies;
- Building a registry for lifesaving defibrillators, as well as support for more public defibrillators and CPR training; and
- Expanding community paramedic programs that deliver non-emergency, in-home services and reduce the number of 911 calls
