New OPSEU brief explains Social Impact Bonds

Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) are a new kind of privatization that may soon have a major impact on social services in Ontario. “SIBs are a clever way for private investors to profit from human suffering,” says OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “They sound good in theory. In practice, they’ll be like any other kind of privatization. Investors will get the contracts and the profits. MPPs will get the campaign donations. Public dollars will pay for both.” Find out more.
