After nine days of negotiations, three with the assistance of a Conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour, talks have broken off. The Union Bargaining Team is now requesting a “No Board Report” from the Ministry of Labour. Once the No Board Report is issued, discussions will take place between the Union and the Employer, in an attempt to identify a mutually agreeable Arbitrator. In the event agreement cannot be reached, the Union will request that the Ministry of Labour assign the Arbitrator.
The outstanding issues leading to the breakdown of talks include wages and the Employer’s desire to alter the existing benefit entitlements.
An edition of Labline will be posted to the OPSEU website shortly.
The Bargaining Team is in the process of arranging information meetings with all work locations across the Province.
