On Wednesday November 15, MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam, NDP Critic for the Attorney General, stood up in Queen’s Park to ask the Premier and Attorney General what they will do to fix the crisis in our province’s court system.

MPP Wong-Tam’s question comes after a woman spoke out about a sexual assault case that was thrown out due to delays at the New Toronto Courthouse.

Low wages, poor working conditions and inadequate onboarding have resulted in a revolving door at Ontario’s courthouses – chronic understaffing & a retention crisis.

OPSEU/SEFPO has been sounding the alarm for years, warning of the potentially tragic consequences. We will continue to advocate for change on behalf of our members and communities.
