Mackenzie Health office and clerical staff join OPSEU

RICHMOND HILL – The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is proud to welcome more than 200 office and clerical staff from Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill.

The newest members include staff employed as patient access representatives, unit secretaries, clerks and other administrative staff. They join approximately 750 other OPSEU members already working at the Richmond Hill hospital. 

Lucy Morton, Chair of OPSEU Health Care Divisional Council extended warm greetings to the new members. “One of the aims for these health care workers is to keep promoting improved working conditions within their respective professions. They make a great addition to our ever-growing health care divisional council,” Morton said.

OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas welcomed the newest members on behalf of the Executive Board.  “Now, more than ever, it’s important to have the protection that comes with belonging to Ontario’s strongest advocate for hospital sector workers. For these new members, joining OPSEU is a giant leap towards securing a brighter future,” Thomas said.

OPSEU’s Health Care Divisional Council represents approximately 45,000 health care workers across Ontario.
