Low clinic wages hurt everybody in Owen Sound

The owners of the Owen Sound Family Health Organization aren’t just hurting workers with the meagre wages and deplorable working conditions they’re offering.

According to an opinion piece by David McLaren in The Owen Sound Hub, the clinic owners are also hurting the entire community.

“Minimum wage – even at $15 an hour – is a poverty wage, and a poverty wage is a recipe for illness, accidents and addictions,”  writes McLaren. “Want to drive up the costs of social and health care services? Don’t pay people what they’re worth. The research is crystal clear on that.”
