LockTalk #9 – Solidarity continues as election pauses bargaining

As anticipated, the provincial government has called an election for February 27, 2025. As you may recall from the last two rounds of bargaining, this pauses the ability for the employer and the union to meet.

As a result, the employer has reached out to your bargaining team to advise that they will need to postpone our planned February bargaining dates. The bargaining team continues to work on your behalf on our proposals and strategies to negotiate the best possible contract.

Solidarity events going strong

Over the last two weeks, your mobilizers have continued to hold solidarity events. Thank you to Central East Correctional Centre (CECC) and South West Detention Centre (SWDC) for hosting these events, and all the members who participated in support.

The mobilizers also had the chance to visit the Local 411 Executive at the OPSEU/SEFPO Ottawa Regional Office.

Stay tuned for future solidarity events as our mobilizers continue to visit worksites across the province.

In solidarity,
