Your Correctional Bargaining Team officially served the employer with our notice to bargain on October 4, 2024, as per legislation. This is the first step towards securing a new collective agreement. Your team is committed to securing meaningful gains to meet the demands of the membership that were made clear through the bargaining survey.
We would like to thank the members that took the time to apply for a mobilizer position for this round of bargaining. As mentioned in LockTalk #1, our bargaining procedures allow for five members to be utilized as mobilizers. We received a number of applications from many different classifications from across the province. The team is in the process of reaching out to the successful candidates, and mobilizers will be introduced in our next LockTalk.
Over the coming weeks, the team will be preparing our opening statement for our first meeting with the employer to exchange and set the tone for this round of bargaining. These statements allow for each side to outline their respective priorities. Our opening statement will be shared with all Correctional Bargaining Unit members in a future LockTalk.
Members should be aware that individual bargaining team members cannot respond to any bargaining-related questions or concerns. If you have questions, please contact the Correctional Bargaining Team at CorrectionsOPSBargaining@opseu.org.
Remember: LockTalk is your only source for accurate bargaining information.
In solidarity,
Janet Laverty, Bargaining Team Chair
Adam Cygler, Bargaining Team Vice Chair
