As a follow-up from our LockTalk 17, the team spent this past week at OPSEU Head Office preparing the necessary documents as we move closer to mediation/ arbitration. This involved organizing all our agreed-to items, prioritizing our outstanding items, and building rationale to support them. Later in the week, these were presented to our Mediation-Arbitration lawyer, Nini Jones, during an in-person meeting.
She will now build the necessary briefs and legal arguments.
Your bargaining team and the employer have agreed to appoint William Kaplan as our Mediator-Arbitrator.
We have June 4th scheduled as our first date for mediation-arbitration hearing. Further dates will be scheduled as required. We will advise accordingly.
Now that our outstanding issues are moving forward to mediation-arbitration, the team will continue to work closely with Nini to advance our issues.
Lastly, have a look at LockTalk 13 to familiarize yourself with the mediation-arbitration process.
We will continue to update the corrections bargaining unit accordingly.
