Local 249’s 306 members of the Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS) reached a tentative agreement through conciliation.
Once the agreement is ratified, members will see a $1.04 per hour general wage increase and a signing bonus of $150 for all employees. Vacation entitlements will increase for all grids and that includes seven weeks for employees with seniority of 25 plus years. Shift premiums increase by $0.17. Part-time employees on contracts will also now receive benefits. The agreement will cover a two year term.
Local 249 President Sue Walker said the dollars and vacation were most important to the members. “We didn’t get everything, but we got the most important things we wanted.”
The local will be having a ratification meeting and vote at the CWDS premises in Oakville on Wednesday, July 22nd from 8am to 6pm.
