LifeLabs Local 5119 gears up for a strike!

A large group of enthusiastic Local 5119 members working for LifeLabs assembled Friday to create picket signs. They are preparing for a strike that could come as soon as 12:01 am on Monday, March 14.

The couriers and mailroom clerks voted to join OPSEU/SEFPO in 2020. Since then, they have been trying to negotiate a first collective agreement with LifeLabs. However, the employer has not even come close to making a meaningful offer that would stave off job action.

Their slogans range from “Living wage NOW for LifeLabs workers” (they earn an average $35,000 annually), to “LifeLabs’ Charlie Brown pays peanuts” (referring to CEO Charles Brown), to “LifeLabs treats health care heroes like zeros”.
