OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas told reporters at Queen’s Park that “life is going to be tougher” for most people under the Ford government’s 2019 budget.

“The losers are all the people Ford claims to represent and the winners are the one per cent and the wealthy through tax cuts,” said Thomas. “I would have liked to see more investment in public services because they’re the great equalizer in society.”

Before the budget was revealed, Thomas correctly predicted on CBC that it would be filled with cuts, saying Ford has “lied to the public about not cutting front-line jobs, because he has. I worry there will be millions more in cuts to public services.”
