The Kingston Whig-Standard and Global TV News both reported on the information picket staged on Friday, Sept. 27, by OPSEU members encouraging the public to “Shop LCBO.”
“We want to let the public know that the LCBO is publicly owned,” OPSEU Local 497 President Teresa Graham said in the Whig-Standard. “Our money goes to protect public assets such as health care, roads and schools. These new LCBO convenience stores, agency stores and the grocery stores that have the stuff now, they’re making profits and it’s going in their pockets now, it’s not going to the public.”
“Our members are all about keeping our community safe,” Graham told Global News. “We ID people that are underage, we challenge people that could be intoxicated … We take our jobs very seriously.”
