Under both sunny and not-so-sunny skies, We Own It was front-and-centre at Labour Day parades and picnics in communities across the province on Monday, September 4.

Mobilizers and volunteers were busy spreading the word about the movement for quality public services, and signed up hundreds of new supporters in communities including Toronto, Kingston, Sarnia, Hamilton, Peterborough, Orillia, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Kenora, London, Kapuskasing, North Bay, Timmins, Cardinal, Brockville, Kitcherner/Waterloo, Port Elgin, and Cornwall.

“We own it,” OPSEU member Lisa Chalmers told The Cornwall Standard-Freeholder. “Public services are owned by the public right now and we are losing that. And when we lose that ownership, we lose that accountability and we lose profits coming back to the province."
