Hospital professionals and paramedical employees at St. Joseph's Care Group in Thunder Bay will cast ballots on March 1 to vote on whether to join the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) has ordered.
The upcoming representation vote covers all paramedical and professional employees including Audio Technician, Audiologist, Foot Care Attendant, Chiropodist, Dietitian, Exercise Specialist, Family Therapist Foot Care, Hearing Instrument Technician, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Pharmacist Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Psych Associate, Psychologist, Psychometric Technician, Psychometrist, Physiotherapist, Registered Resource (Clinician), Social Worker, and Speech Language Pathologist employed by St. Joseph's Care Group.
OPSEU currently represents 25,000 hospital professionals in Ontario, under the umbrella of the Hospital Professionals Division (HPD).
"We look forward to this opportunity to engage with the hospital professionals at St. Joseph’s Care Group," said Sara Labelle, chair of the HPD. "Not only to share info about the many benefits of joining OPSEU as a hospital professional, but also, to hear from them about their needs, so that we can move forward together."
At a time when hospitals are increasingly facing cuts and restructuring across Ontario, hospital professionals are highly aware of the importance of joining a union," said Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "The ability to negotiate collective agreements is just the beginning. As Ontario’s union of choice for health care professionals, OPSEU also provides the tools and resources to support and effectively represent our hospital professionals."
On March 1, vote YES to join OPSEU. We look forward to having you on our team!
