Preparing for the bargaining Table
Your elected bargaining team begins negotiations with the OHA next week – May 26th to May 30th – with additional dates in June and July. We have been working diligently for several months to prepare, finishing with a full week of preparations May 5th-9th, 2025.
During this final week, we reviewed all the demands prioritized by HPD members and refined proposals that reflect the issues you told us were most important. We have been working closely with the OPSEU/SEFPO research team as they review disclosure documents provided to us by participating hospitals. The supporting data they are pulling from this disclosure will be vital to the power and validity of our proposals and set us up to bargain from a position of strength.
The proposals we develop will not only shape our bargaining cycle, but our future as Hospital Professionals in Ontario. As many of us feel the increasing pressures of the recruitment and retention crisis, we want to assure you that your bargaining team has your back. We will bring your voices to the table to demand the real solutions, resourcing and funding needed to combat the recruitment and retention crisis we face every day.
Bargaining Town Hall
Your bargaining team will be hosting regular Bargaining Town Halls throughout negotiations. These Town Halls will be open to all HPD members and will be your chance to hear real-time updates, ask questions and keep up with our progress at the table.
This is shaping up to be a tough round of bargaining and we need to show that we are informed, united, and ready to stand strong together. So come out to hear about how things are going and get involved!
Our first Town Hall is scheduled for June 4th from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

Bargaining Support Rally
Join OPSEU/SEFPO HPD members alongside health care and community allies to rally in support of the bargaining team as we sit down with the employer for the first time in 2025!
The rally will take place Wednesday, May 28th from 12pm-1pm at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel at 123 Queen Street West.
There will also be support rallies around the province at local hospitals – get in touch with your local to find out more and get involved!
