HOOPP provides pre/post retirement seminars and defined benefit pension webcast

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is offering two seminars to provide information on your HOOPP defined benefit pension plan – pre-retirement information (for members approaching retirement) and post-Retirement Information for members who have already started receiving their HOOPP pension.  These seminars are about one hour in length with time allotted afterwards to meet one on one with a HOOPP representative for members with additional questions about their pension. 

Please note: Seminars are held outside of regular working hours and at convenient locations, giving you the opportunity to bring along a spouse or partner to attend along with you.

Topics include:

  • steps to take once you have decided to retire
  • the HOOPP Fund
  • how to get a retirement pension estimate
  • survivor benefits
  • early retirement options and bridge benefits
  • buybacks – what are they and who is eligible?
  • enhanced HOOPP Connect
  • your retirement income
  • COLA and your pension statement
  • returning to work
  • pension splitting

Do you know what it means to have a HOOPP defined benefit (DB) pension plan?

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is offering convenient monthly webcasts that you can access using your computer or tablet on a variety of topics related to your HOOPP pension.

The two webcasts currently offered are “HOOPP Overview” and “HOOPP Annual Statement”.

In these webcasts, you will learn:

  • your pension formula
  • other HOOPP features
  • the HOOPP Fund
  • reading your annual statement
  • what your annual statement means to you

If you are interested in viewing a webcast on one of these topics, please register online through HOOPP’s website: simply choose a date and click on “register”.   If you need assistance or if you have any questions, please contact HOOPP Client Services at 416-646-6445 or toll-free at 1-877-434-6677 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. You will be asked to provide your email address. Webcasts generally run about 60 minutes in length.
