When the specialty language teachers at Halton District School Board started learning about OPSEU/SEFPO, it didn’t take them long to decide. Less than two weeks after first reaching out to us, they voted to join and it was a landslide.
As a union of 180,000+ front-line public sector workers, we couldn’t be more proud. These new members are on the front lines every day – teaching English-as-a-Second-language (ESL), French-as-a-Second-Language (FSL), and Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes, helping people from all walks of life learn to survive and thrive.
Their students count on them. They can count on their new union to help, encourage and support them as they strengthen their voice in their workplace and their communities.
By voting yes to OPSEU/SEFPO, the Halton ESL, FSL, and LINC teachers join the growing number of school workers in the union’s Boards of Education and Cultural Institutions sector (Sector 3). Welcome!
