Frontenac workers reach tentative deal; ratification vote Dec. 11

Workers at the Frontenac Community Mental Health and Addiction Services will hold an information meeting Dec. 10 after reaching a tentative contract deal last week.

The members of Local 489 would have been in a legal strike position Dec. 4 had the two sides failed to reach a tentative agreement. The members had earlier voted 98 per cent per cent in favour of strike action.

Tuesday’s information meeting is scheduled for 6 pm in the Ian Wilson room at the Kingston Public Library downtown on Johnson St.

A ratification vote is scheduled for Dec. 11 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Kingston regional office.

The main issues in negotiations were wages and benefits. The bargaining team is recommending members accept the deal.
