First Responders: vital to keeping us safe

May 1 is First Responder’s Day, an opportunity to honour emergency personnel, including paramedics and ambulance communications, corrections, probations and parole, mental health workers, police, firefighters, and hundreds of others.

These front-line heroes race to the scene to help us when we are in trouble, often in hazardous situations. Their work is even riskier now because of the COVID-19 pandemic in which every response is potentially life-threatening for these dedicated professionals.

OPSEU/SEFPO is proud to represent thousands of these exceptional people.  We are proud of their selflessness and sacrifice, especially during this pandemic. We stand in solidarity with all first responders; they do amazing work to protect us and keep us safe and healthy.

You are true heroes and we are in awe of the work you do. First Responder’s Day is every day of the year for us and we know it is for Ontarians too.
