Even more LifeLabs workers vote yes to OPSEU/SEFPO

LifeLabs couriers in Kitchener, Thorold, and Brantford are the latest workers at the pension-owned, private lab company to vote overwhelmingly in favour of joining OPSEU/SEFPO.

“These couriers are simply the life-blood of our health care system. They deserve all the safety and protections that come with joining a strong union like ours,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas.

“I’d like to congratulate them for exercising their Constitutional right to join a union.  Welcome to OPSEU/SEFPO.”

Along with the new members in Kitchener, Thorold, and Brantford, LifeLabs workers across the GTA, in Simcoe County, and in Timmins have all joined OPSEU/SEFPO over the past year.

“The pandemic has opened a lot of people’s eyes about the importance of belonging to a strong union like OPSEU/SEFPO, and thousands of new members have been signing up,” said OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida.

“Along with all of the LifeLabs workers here in Ontario who’ve already joined OPSEU/SEFPO, thousands of other LifeLabs workers in British Columbia are also unionized in our sister union, the BCGEU,” said Almeida. “To the LifeLabs workers here in Ontario who aren’t yet enjoying all the benefits of being unionized, I’d like to encourage them to give us a call. There’s strength in numbers, and OPSEU/SEFPO is growing stronger at LifeLabs every day.”
