OPSEU/SEFPO is proud to be a member of the Equal Pay Coalition, a group of over 50 trade unions, women’s organizations, worker movements, professional organizations, community organizations and businesses seeking to end gender pay discrimination and close the gender pay gap.
The date chosen for Equal Pay Day symbolizes how far into the year the average woman must work to have earned what the average man had earned the entire previous year. Equal Pay Day in Canada this year is on April 12.
This Tuesday, April 12, the Equal Pay Coalition is holding the first Ontario party leaders debate ever held on women’s issues. We’re looking to see strong commitments to raising the minimum wage to a living wage, mandated paid sick days, and the repeal of Bill 124.
Please join us on April 12 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. as we watch the debate online.
