Privatization takes money from public services and puts it in private pockets. Polls show a majority of Ontarians disapprove. To privatize or contract out, governments should have to prove in a public, accountable, and transparent process that a sell-off improves services and benefits Ontarians. Dear (MPP name):
The Liberal government is committed to selling off public services, and ServiceOntario is next in line. Privatization has failed in Ontario. It costs more, lowers quality of services, and is not accountable. It takes money from public services and puts it in private pockets. Polls show a majority of Ontarians disapprove.
I"m one of those Ontarians. To privatize or contract out, governments should have to prove in a public, accountable and transparent process that a sell-off improves services and benefits Ontarians. There should be a full and open review by an independent agency, with input from the public and a final report tabled in the Legislature.
I would like to know whether you support my position? Or do you support the sell-off of public services without a public, accountable, and transparent process?
Unless we stand up for an independent process, the government can privatize all kinds of services, including:
Birth certificates, driver"s licences, health cards
- Benefits for the disabled
- Enforcement of child and spousal support
- Road safety
- Court reporting
- Offender transport
Can I count on you to help keep our services public?
