The Disability Rights Caucus is inviting OPSEU members with a disability as defined under the Ontario Human Rights Code to apply for a position on the Disability Rights Caucus. As a Caucus, we seek to increase awareness and understanding of equity issues as they relate to individuals with disabilities and to liaise with the respective Provincial Committees. We identify barriers and denied rights that prohibit the full participation of persons with disabilities within OPSEU and the broader society.
We present recommendations to OPSEU (committees/caucus/departments) for action and/or referral to the Executive Board on issues related to barriers and rights that affect individuals with disabilities within OPSEU, the workplace and the broader society.
We liaise with OPSEU members with a disability as defined under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Some of the areas where we are the most active include raising awareness about Invisible Disabilities, connecting with groups such as the Injured Workers as well as identifying and removing attitudinal, physical and systemic barriers to enable all OPSEU members to be active in our Union.

The Equity Unit will remove identifying information and assign an application number. The applications will be screened and ranked using the following criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to advocate, educate and advance the issues of all persons with disabilities
- Gender balance
- Mix of Union and Community activities
- Geographic balance of the seven (7) regions
- A wide range of disabilities with a balance of visible and non-visible disabilities
People from all equity groups are encouraged to apply
The Caucus will consider the recommendations made by the selection committee and the successful applicant will be contacted and invited to join. Selection is final and at the sole discretion of the Disability Rights Caucus.
