March 16 marks Dietitians Day; a time to celebrate the thousands of registered dietitians in Ontario and show our appreciation for their critical contributions to our health care system.
OPSEU/SEFPO proudly represents thousands of highly-skilled dietitians working in Ontario’s hospitals and health care centres. These health care professionals work closely with patients to develop tailored nutrition plans to meet their specific health and cultural needs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a spotlight on health. It has shown us all the importance of having strong immune systems to protect our bodies and to reduce the risk of disease. Nutrition is at the core of this, and the work that registered dietitians do is critical to the development, good health, and healing of Ontarians.
Dietitians take care of Ontario’s most vulnerable by ensuring critically ill patients get the nutrition they need; they provide education on healthy eating to prevent illness before it begins; and they use their expertise and skills to ensure Ontarians know how to manage health conditions so they can keep living fulfilling lives.
Thank you to all registered dietitians in OPSEU/SEFPO. We are grateful for the work you do to support Ontarians, and we are proud to stand with you every day.
In solidarity,
Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU/SEFPO Presiden
Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida, OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President/Treasurer
